Rev. Jamey Gremillion, who led the Missions Department at Ohio Christian University from 2012-2020, rested from his labors on Wednesday, February 28th after a valiant battle with cancer. His influence on our students was immense. The OCU community is marked by deep sadness and profound loss at the departure of our friend, colleague, and brother. We are grateful for his witness among us. He will be sorely missed.Jamey’s faith was in the risen Lord, in whose words we trust: “this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” Though we sorrow, it is not without the sure and certain hope of resurrection. Please remember Cara, Cameron (Blessing), Cade (Liz), Kelsey, Karis, and his extended family in your prayers.A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 7, from 5-8 p.m. on campus at Detty Chapel. The funeral will be on Friday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m., also at Detty Chapel.Obituary can be viewed HERE.

On February 9-10, Ohio Christian University was honored to host the Christian Communicators of America Speech and Debate Tournament. High school students filled nearly every building on campus as they debatedand gave speeches on a variety of subjects. The Chistian Communicators of America is an organization that provides homeschool students the opportunity to develop their skills in public speaking, debate, and research. One CCA director said of the organization,“…everybody, no matter what their job that they have, eventually ends up speaking in front of people…we want to make sure our kids are okay with that…our point is to be able to also speak confidently to share thegospel someday.”Whether the subject is politics, culture, or apologetics, this organization strives to teach their students to critically-think on every topic and every issue from a biblical perspective, while also allowing the students to meetnew people and form friendships.Former participant and now staff member of the CCA, Crystal Downing, said, “…talking to people, coming up with…things on the fly, was not intimidating to me at all because it’s…a skill that I was formulating all throughhigh school.”Crystal and her husband David met at a CCA tournament and agreed, “…our club was so close growing up, having…something mutual to bond over…”Ohio Christian University was privileged to have a part in the CCA’s Christ-centered mission to host and to serve homeschooling families across America.
Ohio Christian University presents Andrew Lloyd Weber’s The Phantom of the Opera as its spring musical production on April 12th at 7:00 PM and April 13th at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the Ministry and Performing Arts Center. Now that the show has closed on Broadway after its 35-year run, come enjoy this production brought to life by Ohio Christian’s very own. Audience members will be immersed in the world of Paris and the Opera Populaire in 1880s France. While the opera house is a colorful world of costumes, divas and ballerinas above the surface, the mysterious opera ghost lurks in the shadows, wreaking havoc on the owners and cast members. Simultaneously, young Christine Daaé is receiving voice lessons from an unseen “Angel of Music” who grows incredibly jealous when her childhood love, Raoul, notices the singer at her debut performance. The show will take you on a journey into the depths of who we long to be and past the point of no return. Our incredible cast includes Benjamin Woodland ’24 as the Phantom, Holly Gillham ’24 as Christine Daaé, and Daniel McQueen ‘25 as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny, making up our dynamic leading trio. We are also welcoming Stormi Overby, who plans to attend Ohio Christian this fall, as Carlotta Guidicelli and Mac Callahan is returning to the stage as Ubaldo Piangi, giving us some incredible, operatic vocals masterfully taught by our amazing Vocal Director, Dr. Dione Bennett. We cannot wait to share a production that truly showcases the unique and showstopping vocal talents our students possess, and we would truly like to give Dr. Bennett credit for her incredible hard work bringing these talents to light.Tickets are on sale now!
