The Leadership and Ministry concentration is for the adult student who has felt a calling into ministry and wants to be equipped to handle the Word of truth and lead a ministry. This concentration provides the necessary information for students to effectively lead a church, a ministry within the church, or even a non-profit organization.

This concentration is comprised of 54 semester hours. Classes meet one night a week for four hours. A three hour class is typically completed in five weeks. Modules are completed sequentially with students taking one module at a time. The modules are arranged into four 12-15 hour semesters.

Concentration Objectives

Students who complete the Leadership and Ministry concentration should:

  • Be able to integrate Christian Principles into their personal and professional life.
  • Be prepared to serve in a position of leadership in a service organization.
  • Have a clear understanding of scriptural leadership principles and be capable of applying those principles
    in practical situations.
  • Have become familiar with making public presentations and functioning as part of a workgroup.
General Education Requirements Necessary for Graduation in Addition to Concentration
(124 semester hours required to graduate)
General Education
  Humanities/Fine Arts
Includes courses in Literature, Biblical Literature, Philosophy, Music, Art and Drama.
3 credit hours
English Composition 6 credit hours
Science or Mathematics
Includes courses in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Astronomy, Environmental Science, College Algebra, Calculus, etc
9 credit hours
Social and Behavioral Science
Includes courses in History, Political Science, Economics, Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology or other similar courses. Introduction to Psychology is required.
6 credit hours
General Education Electives
Includes courses from above categories and, in addition, courses in Speech, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Computer Science, Physical Education and College Orientation. Computer Applications class is required.
18 credit hours
Free Electives
28 credit hours
Students entering the Leadership and Ministry Concentration must have completed a minimum of 50
semester hours of college work, including Introduction to Computers
