The Psychology/Human Relations concentration of the AIM Program is comprised of 60 semester hours focused on preparing the student for graduate school. This program seeks to equip the student with a foundational grasp of human behavior and mental processes. Classes meet one night a week for four hours. A three hour class is typically completed in five weeks. Modules are completed sequentially with students taking one module at a time. The modules listed below are arranged into four 12-15 hour semesters.

Concentration Objectives

Students who complete the Psychology/Human Relations concentration should:

  • Be able to integrate Christian Principles into their personal and professional life.
  • Be able to conduct research in the field of psychology and appropriately report the findings of that
    research.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of human psychology.
  • Be able to articulate various counseling methodologies and their diagnostic application.
General Education Requirements Necessary for Graduation in Addition to Concentration
(124 semester hours required to graduate)
General Education
  Humanities/Fine Arts
Includes courses in Literature, Biblical Literature, Philosophy, Music, Art and Drama.
3 credit hours
English Composition (at least 3 hours must be composition) 6 credit hours
Science or Mathematics (at least 3 hours must be college algebra)
Includes courses in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Astronomy, Environmental Science, College Algebra, Calculus, etc
9 credit hours
Social and Behavioral Science (at least 3 hours must be Introduction to Psychology or equivalent)
Includes courses in History, Political Science, Economics, Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology or other similar courses. Introduction to Psychology is required.
6 credit hours
General Education Electives
Includes courses from above categories and, in addition, courses in Speech, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Computer Science, Physical Education and College Orientation. Computer Applications class is required.
18 credit hours
Free Electives
22 credit hours

Students entering the Psychology/Human Relations Concentration must have completed
a minimum of 50 semester hours of college work, including:
Introduction to Computers & Introduction to Psychology
