Bachelor of Substance Abuse Counseling

The Substance Abuse Counseling concentration of the AIM Program is comprised of 60 semester hours focused on equipping the student to meet the state standards for CCDC II license and to confidently take that qualifying exam. This concentration is designed for students who want to work in addiction recovery services. Classes meet one night a week for four hours. A three hour class is typically completed in five weeks. Modules are completed sequentially with students taking one module at a time. The modules listed below are arranged into four 15 hour semesters.
Concentration Objectives
Students who complete the Substance Abuse Counseling concentration should:
- Be able to integrate Christian Principles into their personal and professional life.
- Understand and be able to apply counseling principles in the area of substance abuse.
- Have become familiar with various strategies for prevention and be able to communicate those individually
or to groups. - Have the ability competently work in the area of substance abuse counseling.
