OCU Faculty Earn Doctorates

Ohio Christian University seeks qualified faculty of the highest caliber. Recently two faculty in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies earned doctorates. These faculty lead the way in demonstrating life-long learning for their students.

Alumnus Dr. Joe Harmon has been an adjunct faculty member since 2008. He earned the Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University, as well as holding the Master of Arts in Advanced Leadership Studies and the Master of Arts in Ministerial Education from that institution. He is a 1979 graduate of Ohio Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries. Dr. Harmon serves as Assistant District Superintendent of the South Coastal District of the Wesleyan Church and is Senior Pastor of New Rock Church in Conyers, Georgia. The title of his dissertation is The Relationship Between Leadership Style and Leadership Effectiveness, Followers' Satisfaction, and Followers' Extra Effort In Christian Non-Profit Organizations.

Dr. Mark Cuthbertson is an affiliate faculty member, having served at OCU since 2011. He earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education, specializing in Postsecondary and Adult Education, from Capella University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Toledo, where he also earned the Teaching Writing and the Managing Diversity Certificates. Dr. Cuthbertson authored the book Vagus Nerve Stimulation Therapy: Is it your answer? and has contributed to the teacher’s edition of the textbook The Composition of Everyday Life. The title of his dissertation is Dialogic Instruction in a Community College Composition Classroom: A Descriptive Study.
