A Big Thank You To The Big Give

OCU students participate in The Big Give phone-a-thon

On September 17 OCU participated in the Columbus Foundation’s second 24-hour community-wide giving event known as The Big Give.  A total of 502 non-profit organizations received donations totaling over $8.5 million, which includes the $1 million matching funds from the Columbus Foundation and donors.

Thanks to the combined efforts of more than 40 students, who volunteered their time and enthusiasm for OCU through the phone-a-thon, as well as the work of the Advancement Department and President Smith, approximately $158,000 was raised in support of the university. As a result of its participation in The Big Give, OCU should be receiving about 10½% of the distribution from the Columbus Foundation, according to non-audited tabulations.

Douglas F. Kridler, president and CEO of the Columbus Foundation, sums up the spirit of The Big Give, “Our local nonprofits deserve our support for all they do on a daily basis to improve the lives of residents and strengthen our community.” OCU wishes to thank all who participated in generously giving in time or monetarily through this event to help Ohio Christian University continue its mission to prepare students to serve effectively in the church and society by providing a holistic, Christ-centered, biblically integrated education.
