Ohio Christian University Alumni Minister in Honduras

City of Tegucigalpa, Honduras

by Mike Holbrook, Ohio Christian University Class of 1978

Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria and to the end of the world.”

Ohio Christian University Alumnus Mike Holbrook, Class of 1978Jonah Mitchell and I (both alumni of Ohio Christian University) joined EQUIP as associate trainers to be able to fulfill Act 1:8 and become God’s witnesses not only across the street but around the world. EQUIP is a ministry that has worked hard in enlisting others to join in leadership development overseas so that the Gospel could go forward in the power of he Holy Spirit through well trained leaders. Jonah and I therefore joined EQUIP by becoming Associate Trainers and took on the challenge to teach Leadership and Ministry to pastors and church leaders in Honduras.

We are committed to go to Tegucigalpa, Honduras twice a year for three years. During these times of leadership training we spend several days teaching and spending time with the Honduran pastors and church leaders. There are around 150 to 200 who attend each session and they are so passionate to learn and develop in leadership as well as the things of God and ministry. Jonah and I teach a notebook of six lessons each time we go and in the three year time frame will have the opportunity to teach six notebooks.

Ohio Christian University Alumnus Jonah Mitchell, Class of 1970Some of the lessons that are taught are:

  • God’s Call for Us to Lead
  • Strategic Training
  • The Heart of a Leader
  • I Have a Dream
  • Cultivating People Skills in your Leadership
  • Priorities and Decision Making
  • The Leadership Test
  • Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Our goal is to not only teach leadership but to help others to become leaders who will train other leaders.

We want them to be a mentor to leaders, who will multiply in others the training they have received. We understand that leadership training is not an event but a process and that is why the additional notebooks and a commitment of three years are needed.

Jonah and I have seen the Lord work in marvelous ways as we have spent time with these leaders from Honduras. As they use the materials that are taught and return for a new session, the stories and testimonies of how the Holy Spirit is working in their churches and ministries are amazing.

People are being saved, sanctified and called for service as the Kingdom of God is being built around the world.

It is a thrill to minister with Jonah Mitchell and to see how the Lord is using him as a leader to train other leaders. I thank the Lord for the opportunity to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment as we become His witnesses around the world.
