Monty Lobb

Monty is a Professor of Business and Government at Ohio Christian University. Prior to coming to OCU, Lobb served eight years as Assistant Secretary of State for Ohio while Ken Blackwell was Secretary of State. He also served as Blackwell’s General Counsel and Chief of Staff and was instrumental in many of the significant accomplishments of this office, including reengineering of the Business Services Division, radical reengineering of the agency’s revenue formula, and eliminating many union grievances and one class-action lawsuit inherited from the previous administration. For the last five years Lobb has served as a public defender and the President of Kenosis Limited; clients include NFL, John Glenn Institute, Ohio Department of natural Resources.
He began his career with Blackwell in 1996 as a manager of the research, projects and constituent services department. In this capacity, he led or participated in policy research concerning child centered funding for the public schools, savings accounts for the working poor, disaster recovery plan for the treasury, electronic fund transfers for child support payments, farmland preservation, and continuing education for public fund managers.
He served as President of Citizens for Community Values in Cincinnati, has played significant roles in federal, state and local political campaigns since 1984, and worked two summers on Capitol Hill. He was elected to a term as a member of the Princeton City School District Board of Education and served a year as president. He served as Chairman of Common Ground Ministries, a transitional homeless program in Over-the-Rhine. In 2006 he co-founded Advocacy for HOPE, a group that gives voice to the reentry needs of prisoners and their families while maintaining the call for restitution.
Dr. Lobb is a graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law, earned with honors his B.A. from Olivet Nazarene University, and received undergraduate credits from New College, Oxford University. Monty is also a Council of State Government Toll Fellow alumnus, a graduate of Leadership Ohio and the Ohio Certified Public Managers program. In 2004, he was honored with the Certified Public Manager of the Year Award.
