Scholarships Rewarding Your Hard Work

Ohio Christian University would like to commend and reward you for your hard work in high school. Our scholarships are awarded upon acceptance and renewed each year as long as you maintain the required GPA and full-time enrollment.

The successful Creative Communities Scholars will receive a $10,000 scholarship toward tuition at Ohio Christian University and a $2,500 stipend per year for their work as an intern in a field aligned with their major.

One male and one female will be selected each year for the scholarship. All finalists for the scholarship will be eligible for consideration in other OCU scholarship awards.

The scholarship will be based on the following criteria:

  • Academics – minimum qualification to apply is an ACT Comprehensive Score of 22 (or SAT equivalent), a High School G.P.A. of 3.3 using a standard 4.0 scale, and one recommendation letter from an academic reference.
  • Character, Service, and Leadership – Students who volunteer, are active in their communities or churches, or show leadership potential are preferred. A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the student’s character or service is requested.
  • Attend a public or private school with approximately 750 or fewer students in grades 9-12.
  • Only available for new students enrolling in the residential undergraduate program for the fall 2019 semester.

Application & Due Dates

All applicants must: (1) fill out the Community Scholars Application and submit the required elements; and, (2) file an application with Ohio Christian University. Only those who have submitted both applications will be considered to have a full file and will be eligible for the scholarship.
Applications will open on November 1, 2018.

  4. A decision will be made on or before March 4 and all finalists will receive a communication from the University at that time concerning the selection.

  • Homeschool – students must graduate from a homeschool program and, ideally, attended homeschool for at least 3 years.

The successful Distinguished Trailblazer Scholar will receive a full ride tuition scholarship toward their education at Ohio Christian University and a $2,500 stipend per year for their work as an intern in a field aligned with their major.

One student will be selected for the Distinguished Trailblazer Scholarship. All Creative Communities, Ohio’s Future, and Homeschool Excellence Scholars will be automatically considered for the Distinguished Trailblazer Scholarship.

The scholarship will be based on the following criteria:

  • Academics – minimum qualification to apply is an ACT Comprehensive Score of 23 (or SAT/CLT equivalent), a High School G.P.A. of 3.3 using a standard 4.0 scale, and one recommendation letter from an academic reference.
  • Character, Service, and Leadership – Students who volunteer, are active in their communities or churches, or show leadership potential are preferred. A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the student’s character or service is requested.
  • Only available for new students enrolling in the residential undergraduate program for the fall 2019 semester.

Process

The Presidential Scholarship is a minimum of $8,000 per year and is awarded to students with a 28 ACT or higher. Students must maintain a 3.75 GPA for the Presidential Scholarship to be renewed each year.

The Provost’s Scholarship is a minimum of $5,000 per year and is awarded to students with a 23-27 ACT. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA for the Provost’s Scholarship to be renewed each year.

The Merit Scholarship is a minimum of $3,000 per year and is awarded to students with a 20-22 ACT. Students must maintain a 3.25 GPA for the Merit Scholarship to be renewed each year.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship is a minimum of $2,000 per year and is awarded to students who have a 19 ACT and a 3.5 GPA or higher.

The Academic Achievement Scholarship is a minimum of $1,000 per year and is is awarded to students who have a 19 ACT and a 3.0-3.49 GPA.

The Trailblazer Family Award is $500 per year and is granted to all siblings who attend OCU's Residential Undergraduate program at the same time and are both classified as dependent students, or granted to a student who is classified as a dependent of an OCU alum.

The Trailblazer Ministry Award is a minimum of $500 per year and is awarded to students who are Church of Christ in Christian Union church members, a missionary child or a pastor's child.

The Military Discount is $1,000 per year and is awarded to military members or students who are dependents of military members or veterans. Dependent students must be 23 years old or younger.

The Good Neighbor Quality Student Award is a minimum of $500 per year and is awarded to students who have graduated from a high school in one of the following counties: Pickaway, Ross, Fairfield, Fayette, Pike, Hocking, Madison Franklin or Licking. Students who attend and graduate from a Christian School or Homeschool are also eligible.

The Transfer Student Scholarship is $2,000 per year and is awarded to students who are transferring to OCU from another college or university. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA for the Transfer Student Scholarship to be renewed each year.

The Leadership Scholarship is a minimum of $500 per year and is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service.

Apply Now for the 2018-2019 Leadership Scholarship

Grants based on need and/or achievement.

Grants are best described as “free money”. Nothing needs to be paid back to the institution or individual who offers the grant. Grants may be figured into an award package based on a student’s need and/or past academic achievement.

The Pell Grant is a federal grant provided to every part-time or full-time student who shows exceptional financial need. This is granted to full-time or part-time students.

The Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is intended to supplement the Pell Grant. It is provided by the federal government to eligible full-time students based on need.

The Ohio College Opportunity Grant is a need based grant for some Pell Grant recipients who are Ohio residents. This is granted to full-time or part-time students.

The Church Matching Grant allows the church of which the student is a member, to help in the education of its students. Ohio Christian University will match up to $500.00 each semester to be applied directly to the student's account.
