OCU Music Department Awarded Grant by the Pickaway County Community Foundation
Ohio Christian University Department of Music would like to announce that they have been awarded a generous grant from the Pickaway County Community Foundation in support of the Music Department’s Performance Series. Over the past six years, the OCU Music Department has actively endeavored to contribute to the musical culture of Pickaway County by hosting free concerts by musical artists from around the state and the nation.
“The Music Department is highly honored by the generous grant of the Pickaway County Community Foundation,” commented Dr. John Anthony, chair of the OCU Music Department. “With their support, we will continue the tradition of hosting high-quality, cultural, music events on our campus that are open to the community free of charge.” Dr. Anthony continued, “I would also like to thank Mary Jane Dean for the hard work she put in to help us with this grant. Her negotiations with the foundation board were essential and effective.”
Dr. Anthony looks forward with great anticipation to the success of the university’s upcoming Community Capital Campaign of which a main goal is the raising of funds for a new Performing Arts Facility on the main OCU campus. The new Performing Arts Center will provide the university and Pickaway County with a beautiful, new facility in which to host future Performance Series Concerts.
Founded in 2001, The Pickaway County Community Foundation (PCCF) administers a charitable endowment consisting of approximately 60 separately identified funds serving Pickaway County, Ohio. The Foundation is a public charity governed by a twelve member board. Under its umbrella of funds, the Foundation makes unrestricted grants to improve the quality of life in Pickaway County, manages a Youth Advisory Committee, and an endowment for the support of the Virginia Crites Hannan Park in Circleville, Ohio.
Grants available from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of an open and competitive application process. Guidelines, priorities for funding and standards of eligibility must be met in order to apply. Opportunities to apply depend on the availability of funding, which varies from year to year. Through the support of thoughtful donors, the Pickaway Community Foundation is able to identify and invest in ever-changing community needs.
