Dr. Case is the longest serving faculty member in the history of Ohio Christian University having served the institution in the capacities of Vice President for Academic Affairs, Religion Department Chairperson and Professor of Bible and Theology for more than 45 years. He has personally influenced over 500 ministerial graduates during his tenure at OCU. In recognition of his stellar academic and administrative contributions, the university honored him with the establishment of its first ever Chair, the David A. Case Chair of Christian Ministries. Ohio Christian University President, Dr. Mark Smith in announcing this said, “Dr. David Case epitomizes the mission of Ohio Christian University. He has served and earned the respect of his community, he understands and is the ultimate representative of the theology of his denomination, and he has trained more ministry leaders than almost anyone I know. What a reward will be his in Heaven! Dr. Case, more than anyone I know deserves this honor and we are pleased to announce this Chair.” A member of The Wesleyan Theological Society, The Evangelical Theological Society, The Ashland Theological Seminary faculty, together with being honored Outstanding Educator in America sets Dr. Case apart as one of the premier Christian professional educators of our day.
A prolific writer and scholar, Dr. Case is one of 21 authors invited to participate in writing the 18 volume Wesleyan Bible Study Commentary Series, published by Wesley Press in 2006. Together with Dr. David Holdren, then General Superintendent of the Wesleyan Church, he co-authored the commentary for 1-2 Peter, 1-3 John and Jude. Drawing on biblical scholarship, this commentary offers clear applications that influence the daily life of Christ followers, providing insight on the nature of Christ, the dynamic power of love, and the essence of holy living. His stand-alone volume, What We Believe: A Laypersons Guide to Wesleyan Theology remains a bestselling college textbook and small group study publication. Many find blessing each year reading his Advent devotional series entitled The Christmas Song and The Messiah. He has produced numerous articles and scholarly papers for Christian journals and periodicals. The consummate camp-meeting bible teacher and evangelist, Dr. Case spends many of his summers teaching in interdenominational, denominational and independent camp settings throughout the United States. When not traveling, teaching, preaching or writing, he enjoys teaching Sunday school at the Lancaster, Ohio Faith Memorial Church, working in his vegetable garden and spending time with his wife of many years, Sally.
