Dave's Plan to Restore America's Prosperity
Dear Fellow Patriots,
The basics of this plan were first put forth to the American people in 2011 when I ran for U.S. Congress from Texas. Since then, I have continued to make minor modifications to the plan. My sincere wish is that those of you who spend the time to study the plan will agree with me that the U.S. needs to return to the principles of limited government, put forth in our U.S. Constitution, the rule of law, lower and simplified taxation, free market, individual responsibility, a strong defense, and without compromise, religious liberty.
At the date of this plan, America’s unemployment rate is at 7.4% and has remained at or above this rate for more than 4 years. More than 11 million Americans are out of work or underemployed and what job growth there is has not even kept up with the increase in population. Millions have quit looking for work and 67 million Americans rely on federal assistance for their daily food, housing, and/or healthcare. The business climate remains mired in uncertainty due to the threat of new taxes, increasing regulation, and Obamacare. The tragedy of President Obama’s job killing policies is that it didn’t have to be this way.
All of you have witnessed once again the belief by the elites in government, business, and academia that we could spend our way into prosperity by the creation of an even larger government. Even after undeniable proof that the Obama Administration’s experiment has woefully failed to restore American prosperity, the President has gone into campaign mode and is causing fear, class warfare, envy, and hatred of the conservatives of this nation. Where are the hope, optimism, and openness that he promised in his first campaign?
Our country does not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem; we are borrowing more than 40 cents of every dollar we spend. Our federal debt is nearly 17 trillion dollars and some estimate that the long term debt that we have already committed to is between 50 and 70 trillion dollars. We are spending money we don’t have on federal programs and ballooning entitlements. Our government’s spending is mortgaging the future of our children and grandchildren (of which I have 17).
Directly and indirectly, our federal government is eroding family values and the religious and moral fiber of this nation. John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” We must elect leaders with solutions rather than rhetoric to get us back to values that founded this great and exceptional nation.
As you review my “Solutions to Restore American Prosperity,” hereinafter referred to as the “Solutions plan,” my hope is that you will see that there are real solutions to our nation’s woes. We have a small window to elect people like myself who have experience in creating jobs and know how to cut spending.
You are invited to provide any feedback on this Solutions plan that you might have and compare my plan with the plans (or lack of plans) of liberals.
Please join me in bringing back conservative principles to our federal government. We must once again restore America’s prosperity and the American Dream.
