No, you will be in a class with other 15 to 18 students. For the online programs in particular web page discussion forums, collaborative software, and emails are used to facilitate interaction between faculty members and students.
Distance learning requires the ability to work independently. When separated from the instructor, it is up to you to take responsibility for what you learn. In general, students who succeed in distance learning programs are actively involved in their learning, are able to focus on their goals, prioritize their responsibilities, and actively seek the assistance they need.
Keeping in mind that no two learners are alike, the typical adult student spends on average between 12 to 15 hours per week on schoolwork. Some students take less time and some take more.
No you do not. Students do have the option to come for graduation and while we do encourage and welcome your visit, it is not required as our online programs are 100% online.

The answer is likely yes, but only the AIM Financial Aid Office can give exact details as far as what type of aid a student is eligible for and the estimated amount. Undergraduate students are typically eligible for grants and loans. In order to receive a financial aid estimate you need to fill out the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Our programs are reasonably priced as compared to our competitors. When comparing programs it is important to take into consideration two things: flexibility and total cost. Flexibility is important because there are many schools that provide low cost education to adults, but these courses are generally scheduled around traditional aged students' schedules making them inconvenient for adults. Secondly, our programs feature no hidden cost. Our total price includes the tuition, books (including delivery to your house), and any fees.
Computer requirements for the online program are as follows:
  • IBM-compatible computer

  • Internet access (high speed Internet recommended)
  • Internet Explorer 7.0 or later
  • 12X CD-ROM
  • Sound card and speakers
  • 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor
  • Email
A majority of adult learners experience the fear of the classroom. It may have been 5-25 years since they sat in a classroom and it may not have been a positive experience for them. What an effective recruiter does is help them work through their fears. Everyone does something well whether it is at work for an organization or even at home. Consequently, the recruiter can help demonstrate the student's ability by pointing out their strengths. Almost everyone can further their education with a little hard work and reorganization of their schedule.

Paying for education is a worry for nearly all the students at any level, but getting an education offers advanced career options and other opportunities. There are also several ways one can pay for education. Some employers offer tuition reimbursement (total or partial). In addition, students could be eligible for federal or state grants as well as federal student loans.

Time is a universal concern for all of our students, but we offer such great flexibility that most students overcome this concern relatively easily. Adult students typically have two options: (1) a traditional college or university that requires them to visit the campus 2-5 times a week at various times or (2) an adult centered program like the one offered by Ohio Christian University. By choosing one of our onsite programs, students only attend class once a week for 4 hours. In our online programs, students do not have to come to campus at all; the whole program can be completed from the comfort of their home at their convenience. Typically students should set aside 12 to 15 hours per week for schoolwork.
A degree earned online at Ohio Christian University is no different than one earned onsite. In fact, transcripts are identical. Also, Ohio Christian University is regionally accredited, which is the highest level of accreditation that any US school can attain. We have a long tradition of educational excellence, and are excited to extend this tradition to online learners.

Financial aid is any kind of money that is either given or loaned to a student for a period of time, which can assist in paying for school. Last year at Ohio Christian University, our students received over 11.4 million dollars in financial assistance of some type.

To apply for financial aid, you must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov. By completing the FAFSA, you are applying for federal grants and loans, along with state grants. Your financial aid advisor cannot determine your financial aid eligibility until you have completed and signed the FAFSA. The FAFSA must be completed annually. Also, the deadline to complete the FAFSA and still be eligible to receive state grants is October 1st of each year.

The FAFSA will ask for specific tax information. Therefore, you will need to be prepared to enter information that can be found on the following items:

  • Your (and your parents', if you are a dependent student) 1040 tax forms from last year. For example, if you are going to be entering school anytime during the 2010-2011 school year, you will need to obtain your 1040 tax forms from the year 2009.
  • Any W2 forms from your employer (and your parents’ employer, if you are a dependent student) from last year.
