Federal Work Study Program
Student Responsibilities | Apply Now | Faculty & Staff Resources
The Federal Work-Study program makes it possible for needy students to earn money while attending college. You earn wages based on the number of hours you work, and any wages earned are paid directly to you. Students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study are not guaranteed jobs. The Federal Work Study program is available to students in the traditional undergraduate program.
Responsibilities of the Student
- I need a job. How do I get started?
In order to be considered for employment, a student must complete the FAFSA form by the published deadline each year and show sufficient financial need.
- Where do I find what jobs are available?
Once the FASFA is completed, the student can go to one of the three job posting locations (The Maxwell Library, and Student Development) where he/she will find current job openings. Each job will be assigned a number; which should be used when applying for a position.
- Now What?
Select a job of interest and write down the job number. Complete the Student Employment Application.
- What's Next?
After the Student Employment Application has been received, the Student's financial eligibility for Federal Work Study will be determined. All qualified applicants will then be referred to the Supervisor of the department for an interview.
- After the Interview
Following the interview, the Supervisor will contact Student Development and provide the name of the student he/she wishes to hire.
- Congratulations
Student Development will contact the student and arrange for all necessary paperwork to be completed. All paperwork must be completed before the student may begin working!
- Work Assignment
As soon as all paperwork is complete, the student will then be instructed to meet with the Department Supervisor for her/his work assignment.
- Time Keeping
Once a work schedule has been determined, the student is required to record work hours on a timesheet. At the end of each week, the time card must be signed by the Supervisor
and submitted to the Student Development Department prior to noon every Monday Morning. Failure to submit completed timecards on time will result in delay of pay.
- When do I get paid?
Students are paid every two weeks and may pick up their paychecks in their campus mailbox in the Graham Administration Building. Please be aware that a percentage of your pay may be applied to your student bill. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Student Development Office or Financial Aid.
