The explanation was outstanding in all aspects.  Grammar, handwriting, and spelling were all neat and correct.  The student clearly explains why he/she should be selected for a scholarship. The student has many leadership abilities. The student clearly has taken a considerable amount of time and thought in constructing the answers to this question.

10 - 12 Points
The explanation was clear.  Grammar, handwriting, and spelling were all neat and correct.  The student explains why he/she should be selected for a scholarship. The student has a few leadership abilities. The student has taken sometime and thought in constructing the answers to this question.

7 - 9 Points
The explanation was somewhat clear.  Grammar, handwriting, and spelling contained some mistakes.  The student vaguely explains why he/she should be selected for a scholarship. The student has made some leadership abilities. The student has taken some time and thought in constructing the answers to this question.

3 - 6 Points
The explanation was not clear.  Grammar, handwriting, and spelling contained several mistakes.  The student does not explain well why he/she should be selected for a scholarship. The student has few or no leadership abilities. The student has not taken time and thought in constructing the answers to this question.

0 - 2 Points
The explanation was not clear at all or the essay was not complete.  Grammar, handwriting, and spelling contained make the answers hard to interpret.  The student does not explain at all why he/she should be selected for a scholarship. The student does not list any leadership abilities. The student has not taken any time and thought in constructing the answers to this question.
