Username and Password
Usually, your username will be the first letter of your first name followed by
your last name. In cases where duplicate usernames occur, additional characters from your first
name will be used. For example, John Doe would be jdoe and Jane Doe would be jadoe.
Your password is initially set to your birth date (ex. May 16, 1989 becomes 051689). The first time you log in with this password, you will be prompted to change it. It is very important that you keep this password private. Do not use a password that may easily be guessed and do not share your password with anyone. If someone gains access to your account, you may still be held responsible for actions committed with your account.
Email
Your email address is your username followed by @ohiochristian.edu (ex: jdoe@ohiochristian.edu).
There are several ways to access your email:
- Using a web browser - Go to WebAccess (http://mail.ohiochristian.edu) and log in with your username and password.
- Using a lab machine - Log onto the machine with your username and password and click the Groupwise Icon on the desktop.
You will be limited to 25 MB of space in your email account. If this space limit is exceeded you will be responsible for cleaning emails from your account to gain back space.
Spam
OCU email is filtered by a SPAM filtering service for your email. You may notice items in your
inbox with the label (BULK) or (QUARANTINED) next to them. Bulk usually refers to items that are
sent in mass quantities to email accounts and Quarantined refers to items that originally had an
attached virus but was removed by the filter.
Printing
OCU students will be given an initial amount of funds for printing and copying during the school
year. Student ID cards will be used to complete print jobs and access copier functions on all
print devices connected to lab and classroom machines. If a student runs out of funds for printing
they can purchase additional credit which will be placed on their ID card.
G Drive
Traditional OCU students are allocated a personal network space to keep class work and other
files in a central location. Your G Drive has a limit of 50 MB of space. If this space limit is
exceeded you will be responsible for cleaning files from your folder to gain back space. You may
access your G Drive by logging into a campus lab machine using the Novell Client.
Anti-Virus
OCU Students that connect directly to the campus network must have anti-virus protection. Please
make sure that the anti-virus software loaded on your machine is properly updated with the latest
virus definitions.
