Blazers Baseball Drop Two to Ranked Cedarville

The OCU Baseball team traveled to Prasco Park in Mason where last season's pleasant memories of playing there in the World Series were quickly changed by NCAA Division 2 Cedarville on Thursday. Cedarville completed a doubleheader sweep of the Blazers by scores of 13-3 and 8-1.

"They are very good and we want to play the best and not just play the sisters of the poor as Gordon Gee famously said," commented Coach Greg Bigam. "The first game we walked 8 batters in six innings and they don't need that kind of help. In the nightcap I thought Brandon Metzgar pitched well but we made a couple of errors and then Cedarville got going."

Offensively, the Blazers knocked out 8 hits in game one. Stefan Vasiloff cracked two singles and had 2 rbi's. Michael Blevins knocked a double, while Brandon Zimmerman, Kelton Sines, Max Ray, Adam Peters, and Ron Goodwin all connected for a hit each.

In game two,Metzgar pitched 5 innings and only gave up 4 earned runs to a great hitting opponent. Blevins led the offense with 3 of the Blazers' 5 hits. Ray and Zimmerman added the other two hits.

OCU will try to get it going Saturday at the VA Stadium, playing Baldwin Wallace at 10 am and then Oberlin College at 1:30 pm. There will be a charge at the gate.
