OCU Baseball Sweeps Johnson Bible For Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

The OCU Baseball Team stayed hot gaining their seventh win in the past eight games with a Saturday doubleheader sweep of Johnson Bible College at the VA Stadium in Chillicothe. The Blazers won the opener 11-2 and then completed the day with a 14-4 run rule win in five innings over the Preachers.

Brandon Metzgar pitched the opening win by going the distance and allowing only one earned run on just 4 hits. Metzgar continued his excellent season on the mound by again not walking a batter. Metzgar is now 3-1 on the year.

OCU banged out 14 hits with Kelton Sines being the hitter of the day by knocking out 6 hits in the doubleheader and collecting 5 runs batted in. Sines had three hits in each game to lead the Blazers. Adam Peters, Michael Blevins, and Max Ray all had 2 hits a piece in the first game with Ray and Peters collecting 2 rbi's each.

In game two, Ryan Black went the distance of five innings for his second win of the yaer on the mound. Black struck out 5 and allowed 5 hits to Johnson. Offensively, Sines was joined by Ron Goodwin, Stefan Vasiloff, Blevins, and Ray with 2 hits each in game two. Black, Metzgar, and Peters all added hits as well.

OCU has another busy week coming up with a trip to NAIA power Alice Lloyd (Kentucky) on Wednesday, a visit to OU Lancaster on Thursday, and a doubleheader next Saturday at Johnson in Knoxville. The Blazers are now 9-7 on the season.
