Blazers Lose Buzzer Beater Against Rival KCU

Trailblazers lose buzzer beater in Grayson Kentucky Tuesday night against Kentucky Christian University 59 to 61. OCU led by 8 to 10 points most of the game. Neither team shot the ball well but both played hard on defense. OCU's Jeremy Hays had the job of guarding KCU's All American Casey Jones. Hays held him to only 5 points for the ball game. On the other end, KCU held OCU's Tirrell Cumberland to only 13 points and 0 for 7 from 3 point land. It was a hard fought battle but in the end critical turnovers and early shots allowed KCU to make a late run and tie the game up with 59 seconds to go. OCU Tirrell hits a runner but Michael Farrell fouls KCU Guard Jon Hood to tie the game back up with 39 seconds to go. Tirrell gets the green light from coach to go end to end and hits another runner in the lane to tie with 20 seconds left. "All we have to do is make one more stop and try to win in overtime. KCU point guard Blandon Clemons is looking to run the clock all the way down. At 5 seconds we get him trapped at the top of the key. He uses his forearm to push Tirrell down and gets shot off at the buzzer to win. NO FOUL!" We should not have given them a chance to win at the end. We have to do a better job of taking care of the basketball." Says Coach Christopher Jeremy Hays, Michael Farrell, and Michael Baker all end with 10 points apiece. Michael Baker did well on the boards with 8 and backup center James Nelson came off the bench to give OCU 7 boards and a block. Blandon Clemons led KCU with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

The Trailblazers are on the road this weekend to Grand Rapids Michigan to take on number 1 Grace Bible.
