Large Crowd Boosts Blazers in Home Win Friday
The Trailblazers played in front of a great crowd at home on Friday. Ohio Christian University was sponsoring Youth group night and Alumni night on Friday to pack out Trailblazer Arena in their contest against Temple Baptist College. “Playing in front of large home crowd is always a great boost to the team. It was great to see teens from all over the state and many familiar alumni as well,” said Coach Christopher. “There were many alumni that had not been on campus for several years and were shocked to see so many new buildings and upgrades.” The team played well for the visitors defeating the Rams of Temple 94-69. The Blazers shot the ball well Friday night shooting 57 percent from the floor and 44 percent from the 3 point line. Michael Farrell had another great game shooting 6 for 10 from the three point line and finishing with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Tirrell Cumberland got in foul trouble earlier but finished strong hitting 5 for 10 from the field ending with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Forward Jeremy Hays is played well finishing with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Temple was shooting the ball well keeping up with the Blazers in the first half. The Blazers went into half time only leading 37 to 35. “We had to come out with a press to start the second half and then changed up between a man press and half court zone to keep them off balance. We moved the ball more on offense wearing them out on defense. We were able to break the game open and led by as many as 30 with 5 minutes to go.”
The Trailblazers meet their first real test in league play on Tuesday when they travel to Grayson, Kentucky to take on rival Kentucky Christian University. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 nationally.
