OCU Signs Canal Winchester Center Joe Collier
CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Head Coach Curtis Christopher is pleased to announce the signing of Joe Collier to the OCU men's basketball team. Collier comes to the Blazers from Canal Winchester High School where he played for head coach Kent Riggs.
Collier helped lead the Indians to a 14-6 record during the 2010-11 season including an 11-3 record in league play. Collier was an effective big man for the Indians and earned a reputation as being one of the best rebounders in the Columbus area. During his senior year Collier scored 5.9 points and pulled down 11.7 rebounds per game. At 6'6" with good size and a long wing span, Collier will bring much needed depth to the Blazers post rotation.
"We see a lot of potential and a big upside in Joe Collier," said head coach Curtis Christopher. "He will help us become a better reboundng team immediately with his size and tenacity and we believe he can develop into an impact player that will be a major contributor for us over the next four years."
Collier joins a talented recruiting class the will add depth, size, and athleticism to a strong group of returning players. OCU is reloading as they look to make a run at the 2012 NCCAA National Championship.
