Trailblazers Let One Slip Away

OCU Men's Basketball traveled to Cedarville, Ohio Tuesday night to take on the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University. The Trailblazers played a strong first half against the NAIA nationally ranked Yellow Jackets going into the half trailing 36-39. Tim Baker got the Blazers rolling in the half hitting a pair of 3's, but once again Brandon Byars came into the game in full force giving the Blazers 18 points and 8 rebounds in the half.

The second half started off with a run by the Yellow Jackets that gave them control over the game that the Blazers couldn't completely overcome. Tirrell Cumberland slowly got his shot going as the game went along and at one point he carried the Blazers back to within 1 point of the Yellow Jackets, but a couple missed offensive opportunities and a few mental mistakes kept the Blazers from pulling out a win. In the final minutes of the game the Blazers made a small run but the Yellow Jackets were able to hold on to the lead making clutch free throws and sealed the 87-75 point win.

Tirrell Cumberland finished the game as the high scorer having 28 points. Brandon Byars, after a slow second half finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Tim Baker also finished in double figures with 11 points and 5 assists. Off the bench, Mike Farrell came in and gave OCU 8 rebounds.

The Trailblazers are back in action after Thanksgiving on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 to take on UC Clermont in Batavia, OH at 8:00pm.
