Trailblazers Lose to UC Clermont 82-84
Trailblazers lose to UC Clermont 82-84 despite a 34 point and 12 rebound performance from Brandon Byars. Byars was the only consistent player for Blazers all night. He scored and rebounded but the rest of the team could not get up to speed. The Blazers struggled all night from the three point line. They only shot 3 for 18. Sharp shooting Tirrell Cumberland was 0 for 6 and Tim Baker was 1 for 5. Deshawn Knighten hit two late game three's to keep them in the game. "We normally make up for bad play with our three point shooting, but that is no excuse for tonight's loss. We simply did not make the stops on defense that we needed to make," said Coach Christopher. The Trailblazers were in the game all the way to the end. They had several chances to take the lead but would miss a free throw, make a turnover, or give up an easy bucket. "We looked like we were trying to wake up from a long nap and just could not shake off the cob webs".
Deshawn finished the game with 13 points 4 rebounds and 5 assists with limited minutes because of foul trouble. Center Mike Baker finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds, and brother, Tim Baker, finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The team has a week off for finals and then travels to Kentucky next Friday to play Union College, and then Asbury College on Saturday.
