Trailblazers Win Big Against Rival Valor Christian College
The Trailblazers win against cross town rival Valor Christian College (World Harvest) on Monday night 88-76. The Trailblazers shot the ball well on the night. As a team they shot 49 percent from the field, 42 percent from the 3 point line and 80 percent from the free throw line. The Blazers thought they had the game in hand at the half going into the locker room 42-24. Valor came out strong and came within single digits several times. "Valor is one of the strongest rebounding teams that we face. They rebounded hard on the offensive boards keeping them in the game. I was proud of our guys. Every time Valor made a run we responded," said Coach Christopher. Tirrell Cumberland had a very good night for the Trailblazers. He had 29 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Forward Brandon Byars also played well with 21 points, 7 rebound, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Point guard Deshawn Knighten added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Brandon Clack was big for Valor with 13 points and 14 rebounds. He helped his team win the rebound war 44 to 35 as a team. Also big for Valor was Anthony Howard with 20 points and 6 rebounds.
"We played a very athletic team and showed that we could slow the game down into a half court game. I look forward to where we can go," says Christopher.
The team plays at Mt Vernon Nazarene Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 7pm.
