Men and Women's soccer enjoy a successful weekend
The men's and women's soccer teams at Ohio Christian University are gaining some momentum in the early parts of the season.
On Friday, the OCU Women went on to beat Johnson Bible College 2-1. Scoring for the Trailblazers were senior, Megan Jeffers and junior, Kim Uetrecht. Both goals were their first career goals for OCU. Sarah Peters put another solid performance in goal having 3 saves in the game. With her in the goal, OCU has given up only 3 goals in as many games.
The men also won their first ever meeting on Friday against Valley Forge Christian College from Pennsylvania 1-0. The men out shot their opponent 21-4 which left Coach Murton questioning their finishing. "We are not finishing like we should. So we will fix that. Right now we are happy that we are possessing the ball so well and that in itself is a good defense", explained Coach Murton.
On Saturday, the men again hit the pitch and played Johnson Bible College. Last week the defeated them at Johnson 1-0. Saturday was different. A 4-0 win over their inter-regional rivals proved to be a step in the right direction in the attacking game. Dave Blamo scored a hat trick, his first of the year, and his 4th hat trick in his career. Also scoring for the men was freshman, Isaac Koesh his first of his career.
Both teams step back onto the pitch on Monday against Shawnee State University home. Women play at 3 and the men play at 5pm.
