OCU Men's Soccer 4 years ago ended it's regular season with a loss and a record of 1-16-0. Fast forward to 11/11/10 and the men will play in the National Championship of the NCCAA against a familiar foe, Clearwater Christian.

In 2009, OCU went down to Atlanta and lost to a then #3 seed Clearwater 3-6. In the 2009 National Semi-Finals OCU lost in PK's 3-5 to Clearwater. Earlier this year, OCU traveled back down to Atlanta and lost 0-4. With all this ahead of them, Coach Murton seems undeterred. "In those games we learned something about how we respond to the pressures of playing the tops teams. We are confident in who we are and we feel very good about our chances in the biggest soccer game in OCU history", mentioned Coach Murton. Dr Mark Smith, Ohio Christian University President, praised Coach Murton and the soccer team for their excellent work. "This is a great day for OCU!" he added.

In the semi-finals, OCU played #2 Northland International University, a team they defeated earlier in the season 1-0 in double overtime. The men came out and scored first from Kevin Street who was assisted by Stu Hostetter. That was the only scoring in the first half but Northland controlled the field of play. OCU would try to gain momentum in the second half but Northland would have none of it and in the 70th minute, scored to make it 1-1. "We were reeling a bit. Northland is a physical and fast team and it took us off a bit, but our guys are tough. They kept a fighting spirit and gave everything they had", added Coach Murton. At the end of 90 minutes, the score was 1-1 and overtime was in the plans for these two teams again. In the first meeting earlier this year, OCU came out and possessed NIU in overtime and eventually scored to win. NIU had different thoughts in this national semi-final, but after the first overtime, the score was knotted at 1. In the second overtime, NIU looked worn out and OCU started to gain momentum. That momentum turned into a goal from Dexter Chapman in which Sebastian Bohorquez assisted him. The goal came 5 minutes into the second overtime and a win that sends OCU to it's first national title game. "What a humbling experience for us today", exclaimed Murton. "God has been so good to us and He gives us this! I can't fathom how honored we are for this. We will go to this National Championship and give everything He has given us" added Coach Murton.
