OCU Soccer Fall to Anderson University

OCU soccer finished a long road trip which started in Atlanta, GA; then to Toccoa Falls, GA.  A stop at Knoxville, TN before a trip to Anderson, IN.  OCU has not played an NCAA team since playing Ohio Valley University in 2007 and would be the first match up for an OCU team coached by Josh Murton.

The women held their ground for over 31 minutes before being scored upon by Tiffany Vega of Anderson.  "It was a good shot.  About 30 yards out and surprised Peters and then bounced in under the crossbar", added Coach Murton.  The night did not pick up at all when OCU would see Lauren McDonald and Kayla Conley go down for possible season-ending injuries.  The women ended up losing 0-4 but Coach Murton likes to look at the positives.  "We now have 2 girls with season ending injuries, 2 with injuries that could put them out for the season and 1 more that could be ready by late October.  All are starters, so we are getting a lot of work from girls who have not seen a lot of playing time.  I am proud of them for hanging in there and if we can get healthy, we will be tough to beat", mentioned Coach Murton

The men gave up a goal on an early mistake which led way to Anderson winning 0-3.  Again Coach Murton see's the positives of the game.  "We made 3 mistakes, and paid for each of them.  I felt in the first half we possessed very well against an NCAA D-3 opponent and I think we see the forest for the trees here.  We are capable of playing with some big teams.  We just needed to see ourselves do it."  In goal, Steven Fabian had another great night making 4 diving saves and keeping the Blazers in the game.

Up next for the Men, the travel to Appalachian Bible College on 10/15 and then play Kentucky Christian along with the women on 10/16.
