Honoring Christ Through Music

Andrew Compton: Honoring Christ Through Music

The music department is proud to have Andrew Compton as a sophomore music education major this year. Andrew is passionate about honoring Christ through every aspect of music, including performance, composition, collaboration, and teaching. He believes in continually broadening his personal and professional experience by welcoming every challenge as an opportunity to learn.

During high school, Andrew was a member of many honor bands including the Capital University Honor Band, Fairfield All-County Band, and the Ohio All-State Band. He is currently a member of Heisey Wind Ensemble and has performed as a soloist in various venues.

As a performer, Andrew has won many awards, including consistent “Superior” ratings for Class A solos during all fours years of High School Solo and Ensemble Contest, Most Outstanding Instrumental Soloist at the "Music in the Parks" event, and most recently, the 2013 Solo Competition at Ohio Christian University.

In addition to performing, Andrew is also a composer, having composed a number of works in a wide range of styles and instrumentations. One of his choral works was performed by the Liberty Union High School Choir. Andrew is currently serving an internship with Circleville High School's Marching Band staff and gives private lessons to students from CHS throughout the school year. It is great to have Andrew as a music student here at Ohio Christian University!
