2008 OCU Soccer

The Ohio Christian Men's soccer program made more steps towards making itself known in the NCCAA by being awarded the most regional awards in school history. The Trailblazers came back from Tennessee (where the regional tournament and coach's meeting took place) with 3 Mid-East First teamers in Emanuel Harris (Fr.), Dexter Chapman (Fr.) and Kevin Street (So.). They also came home with 3 Second teamers in Dominic Lehman (Sr.), Jimmy Galvan (Fr.) and Steve Vogelgesang (Fr.). "These young men have been a pleasure to be around on and off the field. These awards not only show what they are capable of, but also show what we have done as a team. I am honored to be associated with them" commented Coach Murton.

The OCU men finish the season 10-5-1, it's the best record in school history, and are the Mid-East Region Regular Season Champs for the first time in school history. Not making it through the regional tournament, losing to Johnson Bible College, was only a minor set back. "We are petitioning for an At-Large bid for the National Tournament. If we don't get in with that, then we might be able to apply to get into the ACCA National Tournament. Either way, I think when we look back at what we have started here, we can only be pleased with this year" commented Coach Murton on their '08 season.

So what is next for the OCU Men? "We're waiting to hear about the National Tournament, but until then, back to recuiting young men who love God and want to be a part of something special going on here. It's a rarity to get an opportunity to be on a team with the group we have, so we have to continue to bring in quality people." answered Coach Murton.
