Lady Blazers Down Valley Forge Christian

The OCU women's basketball team hosted the 2nd Annual Tip-off Classic over the weekend. Junior forward Rosalyn Fleming had the hot hand Friday night as Ohio Christian took on Ohio University-Lancaster, hitting a career high five 3 pointers and totaling 19 points. OCU had the lead at halftime, but OU-Lancaster's 20 more attempts from the free throw line, turned out to be too much for OCU, who lost by a final score of 50-59.
On Saturday, the Lady Blazers bounced back, using their depth and full court press to defeat the Lady Patriots of Valley Forge Christian 72-31. Junior guard Brenda Carter, a Columbus State Community College transfer, scored a game-high 33 points, while junior Elizabeth Buzzard pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for OCU.
Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "It was a good start to our season. The first few games of the season are always a challenge, especially with as many newcomers and young players that we have this season. But the girls played hard, and I am excited to see what they can do this season."
The Lady Blazers' next game is Saturday at 2pm, as they host Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the Leadership Center.
