Renowned Larchmere String Quartet Performs at Ohio Christian University

 

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Christian University was proud to present the Larchmere String Quartet on Thursday, October 1, 2015, for a free concert beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Detty Chapel.

 

Dr. John Anthony, Chair of Ohio Christian University’s Music Department, shared his appreciation and anticipation for the Quartet coming visit to OCU saying, “This will be the first time having the Larchmere String Quartet at OCU. As initiator of the university music program and active performer myself, I respect [the Quartet’s] dedication to their music and willingness to share their knowledge and gifts with students. It will be an honor to have them here at OCU.”

This event is part of the Music Department Performance Series and will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a pre-concert lecture by Dr. Zack Browning entitled, The Harmony of Numbers. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. Feel free to attend either one or both, but seating will be limited, so arrive early.

About Larchmere String Quartet

Larchmere String Quartet has performed all across the continental United States, Europe and Canada. The group, which formed in 2011, has been praised for its “keen sensitivity and receptivity” by Bloomington Herald Times. The quartet has performed in many residencies, including The Banff Centre in Banff, Canada, and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, where they had the honor of working with Gunter Pichler, the former first violinist of the Alban Berg Quartet. In the faculty position of Eykamp Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Evansville since 2012, the quartet holds the role as artists-in-residence and principal players of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Previously they taught at several universities, such as University of Illinois, Indiana University, Johns Hopkins University, and DePauw University.
