OCU Employees Prepare for Students’ Return to Campus

On Wednesday, August 19, OCU Staff and Faculty gathered in the chapel for the annual employee Convocation. It was a time for Vice Presidents to introduce their hires over the last year, a time to revel in the last year’s accomplishments, and a time to be encouraged by President Smith as the new school year rapidly approaches.

Since Convocation 2014, more than 40 new staff and faculty members have been hired, with Adult and Graduate Studies having a record year of 19 hires.  Five awards were given out. Tricia Lucas and Tricia Bradley were Administrators of the Year, Assistant History Professor Michael Burchett was the Faculty Person of the Year, Rachel Sones was the Staff Person of the Year, and Reece Sorley was the Community Ambassador of the Year.

Dr. Smith encouraged OCU staff to stay focused on faith and holy living, to be conservative in our Christian values, to be evangelistic and seek the lost, and to be loving servants who lead by example. When all of that works together, a people-focused, productive workplace is created.

That’s what OCU is about — preparing world-impacting servant leaders, and not just our students, but our staff as well.
