John Maxwell and Cal Thomas Featured at OCU’s Leadership Forum

Nearly 1,000 people attended Ohio Christian University’s seventh annual Leadership Forum on Tuesday, April 23.  Headlining the forum was Dr. John C. Maxwell, an internationally respected leadership expert, speaker, and author, and Cal Thomas, a #1 nationally syndicated columnist, TV and radio commentator, and author.

Maxwell, an alumnus of Ohio Christian University and Circleville High School, has written 73 books that have sold more than 21 million copies. He was one of 25 authors and artists named to’s 10th Anniversary Hall of Fame.  Every year he speaks to Fortune 500 companies, international government leaders, and organizations as diverse as the United States Military Academy at West Point and the National Football League.  Maxwell is the founder of EQUIP, a non-profit organization that has trained more than 5 million leaders in 174 countries worldwide.  A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Business Week best-selling author, Maxwell has written three books that have sold more than a million copies: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, Developing the Leader Within You, and The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader.

He also writes for USA Today, is the author of ten books, and appears regularly on the Fox News Channel.

Maxwell has volunteered his time since 2007 to help raise money for OCU student scholarships. With the event this year, he has helped to raise more than one million dollars for OCU.  An oversized check was presented at the event to honor the occasion (see photo).  OCU President Mark Smith thanked Maxwell for helping to fund education for needy students and praised him for adding value to peoples’ lives.

Preceding the evening event, sixty senior-level decision makers from businesses across the central Ohio region participated in roundtable training sessions conducted by Maxwell and Thomas who were joined by Mark Miller, Chick-fil-A Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness, and Kevin Myers, Founder and Senior Pastor of 12Stone Church in Atlanta, Georgia, which has an average Sunday attendance of 10,000.

The annual leadership forum is an increasingly popular event that facilitates the professional development of those currently in executive leadership roles or who aspire to be effective leaders.  Proceeds from the event support the University Scholarship Program.
