OCU Makes Student Safety Top Priority

Over last several months, Ohio Christian University has ramped up its security in an effort to make our campus as secure as possible. Working in partnership with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, OCU has

  • hired a part-time Deputy Sheriff,
  • implemented 24/7 security surveillance,
  • installed 30 cameras in public campus areas, and
  • installed technology that will allow the campus security team to lock down buildings in the case of a campus crisis.

Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff says, “the partnership has grown and evolved as the university has grown,” while “open[ing] the doors to making it safer for OCU.”

Ohio Christian University’s dedication to student safety extends to the rest of the community as well. This shared responsibility ensures “the resources will be [at OCU]” should they be needed. The Sheriff added, “we’ll make sure students and faculty are safe.”

Students and staff are encouraged to take an active role in their own safety by remembering three things:

  1. Be alert – take note of your surroundings.
  2. If it seems out of the ordinary, it probably is.
  3. If you see something, say something — don’t be afraid to call.
