OCU Mens Soccer Topple OSU-Mansfield
The day was an opportunity to honor a player at OCU who never got to play. Derrick Ising after signing his letter of intent to OCU suddenly died in July of 2008. The men had a heavy heart and a strong confidence to win as OCU beat OSU-Mansfield 6-1. "It was a good day for us to pay our respects and go out and win another one in honor of Derrick" mentioned Coach Murton.
OCU jumped out early and scored in the 13th minute from Emanuel Harris. Harris would put one more in which now ties him for the most goals in school history. Dave Blamo tried to make his mark by scoring the other 4 goals. "Dave is doing a lot of learning. He's got a great nose for the goal and I am pleased to see him growing as a player and as a man" added Coach Murton.
Assisting the goals were Harris, Blamo and Kevin Street, but Stu Hostetter created 2 assists from the back line. Taylor Ryan had 6 saves in the win.
OCU is now 9-3-0, one win short of tying last years school record of 10. They also are 2-1-0 in the OCAC and 5-0-0 in the NCCAA Mid-East Region.
Next up is rival Kentucky Christian, home on Tuesday at 5pm.
