OCU Soccer Wins 3-1 over OSU-Mansfield

The men of Ohio Christian (9-2-1) went on the road this past Saturday and won their 9th game of the season over Ohio State - Mansfield 3-1. The 9th place team in the nation gave up an early goal to OSU-Mansfield but kept their composure and fought back with 3 unanswered goals. "We slipped up early, but our defense tightened up with our leadership from Kevin Street," stated Coach Murton. Kevin Street, a Sophomore from Chillicothe, Ohio, has started all 12 games for the Trailblazers and is a team captain.

Scoring for OCU was Dexter Chapman, a Freshman from Oxford, England, with 2 goals and Emanuel Harris, a former state champion from Bexley, with the final goal.

Coach Murton changed formations this game to allow more room in the midfield and it seemed to make a difference. "We were having a tough time with possession lately. At times I felt we were fumbling over each other, so we made a few changes. Usually I go with, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" rule, but after talking it over with some of the guys we felt comfortable with the move" mentioned Coach Murton.

OCU, 9th in the nation, will play next against regional foe and arch-rival Kentucky Christian on Tuesday. "This is a big game for us. We win and we can solidify a #1 seed in the tournament, a first for OCU soccer," said Coach Murton when asked about the importance of the game.
