OCU Volleyball Defeats #4 Ranked OSU-Marion
The Lady Trailblazers defeated OSU-Marion 25-19, 25-8, 25-19. The OSU-Marion Scarlet Wave are currently ranked #4 in the USCAA.
In the first set, OCU was down early 4-8. Coming out of a timeout, the Lady Trailblazers refocused and rallied to a 9-9 tie. The Scarlet Wave and the Trailblazers battled back and forth with OCU establishing its offense and built a lead of 18-14. Sophomore Marissa Tackett was able to connect for 2 kills late followed by some aggressive serving from Kristen Uetrecht that finished out the set.
The Trailblazers showcased great focus and came out dominant in the second set establishing a 15-2 lead. Senior Marlaina Shotsky and Tackett established a strong middle presence and stayed aggressive throughout the set. Uetrecht had a solo block followed by a block assist by Tackett and Freshman Christy Sanders to close out set two.
There were several unforced errors on both sides of the net in set 3 as OCU earned a kill off of an OSU-Marion overpass early and the Trailblazers gave up several points on service errors and attack errors. Junior Brittany Martin stepped up her play in the middle of the third set connected for 4 kills and helping OCU take a 12-5 lead. The Lady Trailblazers
