Ohio Christian Men's Soccer Sign Another Local Standout

On February 20th, the OCU Men's soccer program made another move to secure it's future in NCCAA soccer elite programs. Fairfield Union's Josh Hayes signed his letter of intent to come to OCU and bring the success he enjoyed throughout his high school career to OCU. While at Fairfield Union, Josh broke the school record for goalkeepers in shutouts for a single season his junior year with 8, and then beat his own record with 11 his senior year. He holds the career record in shutouts with 22.

"Josh is an exciting goalkeeper who has good athletic ability, quick hands and a solid knowledge of the game. He comes in and will make us competitive in that position right away" mentioned Coach Murton. OCU will have senior, Dominic Lehman return in '09 after being named 2nd Team All-Region in '08 and signing Hayes will make competition in practice at a high level. Murton mentioned, "We need to be competitive in all positions every day in every hour. That is the only way that we are going to build a program that will continue to compete at a national level."

Josh is OCU's second signing of the off-season but Murton plans on more to come. "We have been working real hard in the recruiting area this off-season. Since it's my first full off-season, we plan to bring in more players to make us more competitive."

Hayes is also the starting goalkeeper for Pride Soccer Club's U-19 team, a club based out of Canal Winchester.
