Ohio Christian University Awarded Military Friendly School
Ohio Christian University is one of 20% of colleges, universities, and trade schools that was named a 2012 Military Friendly School in recognition of its commitment to serving those who serve.
G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded Ohio Christian University the designation of 2012 Military Friendly School. The military friendly schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
The colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience. These schools are making the grade by offering scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served. The 2012 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide. A full story and detailed list of Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools and on a poster, both of which will be distributed to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October. The newly redesigned website, found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, features the complete list, interactive tools, and search functionality.
“Ohio Christian University feels it owes much to those who are and have sacrificed so much in the service of their country,” said OCU president Mark A. Smith. “One hundred of our students are taking advantage of our military discount, “ Smith added.
OCU began offering students in its adult and online programming a significant military discount in 2010. Active duty, veterans, spouses, and dependents (under the age of 23) are eligible for a tuition rate of only $250 per semester hour, which applies to all associate and bachelor level programs. The Ohio Board of Regents recently approved the OCU Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Management (MM). These programs are planned to start in 2012, and the military rate of tuition, $250 per semester hour, will also apply.
