Mark A. Smith, President

Dr. Mark Smith is President of Ohio Christian University. He is in his 7th year and has led a team of experts in growing the University from 380 to more than 3,600 students. He has helped fund 20 million dollars in facilities. Prior to coming to Ohio Christian University, Dr. Smith served as Vice President for Adult and Graduate Studies from 2001 through 2005 at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he previously served as Dean.
Dr. Smith has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobe Sound College and a master’s degree in college teaching from Northeastern State University.
He attended Kansas University’s Graduate School and graduated from West Virginia University with a Doctor of Education degree. Dr. Smith completed Harvard University’s Institute of Educational Management for Executive Management.
Dr. Smith has served on numerous educational and political boards and was appointed for a 3 year term to the FIPSE Board which focused on Excellence in Education by President George Bush. He serves on several corporate and private boards, including the Columbus 2020 - Ohio Regional Economic Development Board and the ELEOS Corporate board.
Smith has published numerous articles for professional and education organizations. His publications include the co-authored books: Leading Change in Your World and The Church Leader’s MBA, a management manual for church leaders.
Dr. Smith has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 26 years and they have two children. His passion and drive for leadership is the foundation of his professional endeavors and service.
