OCU President to Serve on Columbus 2020 Board
Ohio Christian University President, Dr. Mark Smith, has been asked to serve on the Columbus 2020 board of directors. Columbus 2020 is facilitating job growth, business expansion and marketability for central Ohio. It consists of a public-private partnership collaboration of Ohio’s research and academic institutions from a multitude of industries. Smith previously served on the Columbus 20/20 marketing and partnership group to assist in raising 6 million dollars to develop a marketing strategy for central Ohio.
Smith said “This board role will continue to keep Pickaway County and Central Ohio in the minds of prospective employers. Right now, anything that focuses on jobs is something I want to participate in for this community. I hope we can bring resources to this area and assist with economic development.”
Smith joins other board members that include Michael Coleman (Mayor of Columbus), Jack Partridge (President of Columbia Gas), David Blom (President & CEO of Ohio Health), Marilyn Brown (Franklin County Commissioner), Laing Akers (Senior Attorney for Squire, Sanders & Dempsey), Michael Keller (Executive VP and CIO of Nationwide Insurance), Greg Overmyer (CEO of Overmyer Associates), Mike Goldbeck (VP of Finance and Administration, Columbus Chamber of Commerce), Charles Dutch (VP and General Manager, Rotorcraft Systems, Boeing), Eric Phillips (Executive Director, Union County Economic Development Partnership), Kenny McDonald (Chief Economic Officer, Columbus 2020), Jack Fisher (Executive VP, Ohio Farm Bureau), Alex Fischer (President and CEO, Columbus Partnership), and David Williams (Dean of the College of Engineering, The Ohio State University).
