OCU Baseball Coach Greg Bigam

Head Coach Greg Bigam

Pickaway County native Greg Bigam takes over as the head baseball coach for the Trailblazers. Bigam played at Westfall High School where he was conference player of the year in both basketball and baseball. Bigam went on to star at Capital University as a third baseman. At Capital, Bigam was captain and an NCAA Academic All American.

Coach Bigam has coached baseball at Westfall and more recently at Circleville as an assistant. Bigam is currently a part of the Chillicothe Paints Baseball Organization, where he is the "voice" of the Paints on radio and TV. Bigam also assisted the coaching staff in 2008. The Paints were a pro baseball minor league franchise through 2008 and are now a part of the collegiate wooden bat Prospect League.

Coach Greg is looking forward to his second season in 2011. Bigam led to the Blazers to their most successful season in history last year with 16 wins and a Mid East Regional championship. "It will be a challenge to improve on last year's success, but we have a good nucleus of players back," stated Bigam. "Our schedule is more difficult this year and we don't have a lot of depth."

2011 will see limited home games because of the regrading of the OCU baseball field. It will also see the addition of a new co-coach to help lead the OCU Baseball Program.

Co-Coach Brian Bigam

OCU Coach Greg Bigam was looking for much needed help after last season to improve Trailblazer Baseball. He didn't have to look far when his son and assistant at the University of Indianapolis decided to move back to the area.

Brian Bigam, a 2002 grad of the University of Indianapolis and a 4 year Greyhound letterman in baseball, comes to Ohio Christian as Co-Coach in 2011. Bigam spent 2010 as a pitching coach for the University of Indianapolis.

Bigam was a three sport athlete at Circleville High School, earning all league mention in football, basketball, and baseball. Bigam, a southpaw pitcher, pitched in relief in the NCAA Division 2 World Series as a sophomore when Indianapolis made their last world series appearance in 2000.

As a junior Greyhound starter in 2001, Bigam had his finest season with a 9-1 record and earned All GLVC and Academic All American honors. The 2001 University of Indianapolis baseball squad set a school record with 51 wins.

Bigam graduated magna cum laude in  math education and returned to help coach the Greyhounds as a graduate assistant in 2003.

After earning his masters, Brian returned to his high school alma mater in Circleville, Ohio to begin his teaching and coaching career. At Circleville, Bigam served as Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, and Head Varsity Boys Baseball Coach. In his 4 seasons as head baseball coach, Bigam's baseball squad compiled a 77-34 record and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in Ohio's state tournament.

Bigam also has professional coaching experience while in Ohio as a two year assistant with field manager Mark Mason and the Chillicothe Paints Professional Baseball Team. The Paints were members of the Independent Frontier League.

"Young"  Coach Bigam is married to University of Indianapolis grad and former track star Nicole (Williams) Bigam. Brian and Nicole have two children, daughter Maddux (07) and son Glavine (09). Brian is also currently employed as a high school math teacher at Circleville High School.
