Blazers Baseball Pick up Fifth Win
The Ohio Christian Baseball Team picked up their fifth win of the young season with a 12 to 10 rain shortened win over Ohio University Chillicothe. The Blazers played in a cold consistent rain at the VA Stadium in Chillicothe, led the entire game and got the win when the umpires called the game after 6 innings when it became nearly impossible to hang on to the ball or the bat. OCU now stands 5-6 on the year.
OCU picked up 6 hits but also were awarded 11 walks by OU Chillicothe. The Blazers offense was led by Steven Vogelgesang with a triple and a double and Adam Peters with a pair of two base hits. Kelton Sines and Tae Spelll added singles to round out the hitting. Peters drove home 3 runners, while Spell knocked in a pair. Michael Blevins picked up two rbi's as well despite sore ribs.
Blevins picked up the win with relief help from Kelton Sines and Peters. "It was an ugly game and almost impossible to pitch after the third inning, but we battled through the elements and a few mistakes to work out a win, " commented head coach Greg Bigam. "Our pithers walked 10 and they walked 11, but you just have to will yourself to win a game in cold rainy conditions." OCU was rained out in their Friday home opener against Maranatha, and are scheduled to host Freewill Baptist in a doubleheader on Monday, conditions permitting.
