Nate Wheeler Tosses Complete Game Shutout in 5-0 Win Over NAIA Alice Lloyd College

PIPPA PASSES, KY - The Ohio Christian University Baseball team headed south to Kentucky on Saturday and split a doubleheader with NAIA affiliate, Alice Lloyd College.

After dropping the first game, Ohio Christian came out and won the 2nd game by a score of 5-0 to move to 2-2 on the young season.  Trailblazer pitcher, Nate Wheeler, blanked the host Eagles of Alice Lloyd in game two, pitching a complete game shutout, for the victory.

Wheeler's victory on the hill sends his record to 2-0 on the season. Offensively OCU was led by Junior Ryan Black and freshman Evan Werner. Black knocked out 2 hits while Werner collected 3 hits and an rbi. Freshman Cory Haner continued his early season hitting with a hit and an rbi in each game. Tyler Goff also added a hit in each game and Avery Sneed added his first extra base hit of the season with a double. Freshman Jayson Perkins led the Blazers in the opener with 2 hits.

OCU now sits at 2-2 on the season with a win against an NCAA Division III opponent and a victory against an NAIA school.

"We are playing tough competition but we are finding ways to get it done," commented OCU Head Coach Brian Bigam.

The schedule does not get any easier as OCU now prepares to head north to face Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Thursday.
