Vogelgesang and Blevins Pitch OCU To Sweep Of Lincoln Christian

The Trailblazers baseballers picked up their seventh and eighth wins of the year with a twinbill sweep of Lincoln Christian University by scores of 3-0 and 7-0. Righthanders Steven Vogelgesang and Michael Blevins spun back to back shut outs on a windy Saturday at OCU. Vogelgesang gave up only two hits in a seven inning complete game effort while striking out 9. Blevins picked up the momentum in game two giving up 7 hits, striking out 8, and most impressively not walking a batter.

"Offensively, it was a tough day with a gale force wind blowing in from the outfield, "summed up Coach Greg Bigam. "We did a nice job by stealing some bases, moving up runners and driving home some runs on ground balls." Tae Spell banged out a couple of singles with two stolen bases and scored two of the three OCU runs in game one. Blevins drove home two of the three runs while Kelton Sines, Adam Peters, and Ron Goodwin added base hits in the game one win.

Sines had three big hits and Blevins two more in the second game. Peters drove home three runs in game two while Goodwin added a hit and a rbi. Spell and Max Ray each had a hit while Spell added two more stolen bases to his team leading total. The wins were important to OCU with Lincoln Christian being an NCCAA D 2 member like the Blazers.

The Trailblazers are now 8-8 but face a tough week traveling to OSU Mansfield Monday for 2, then hosting OU Chillicothe Thursday, and then a big doubleheader next Saturday in Mason Ohio against Johnson Bible.
