Withrow All-CMAC Outfielder Al Shannon Joins OCU

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Head baseball coach Greg Bigam is happy to announce the addition of Al Shannon to the Ohio Christian University baseball program.  Shannon signs with OCU after enjoying a great prep career at Withrow High School and with his U17 program, the Akadema Braves.

Shannon was a standout outfielder for Withrow this past year as he helped lead his team to a 10-2 conference record on their way to the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference title.  During his senior season he posted big numbers with a batting average of .429 and an on base percentage of .619 to help lead his team.  He also was a terror on the basepaths as he averaged a stolen base per game during his senior season.

For his outstanding performance on the diamond, Shannon was voted as a 1st Team All-Conference selection in the CMAC.  On top of that he also received All-District honors for his sensational senior season.

Shannon will strengthen the OCU outfield and defense with his speed and athleticsm.  His ability to get on base and steal bases will help the Blazers offensively.

Shannon joins a highly touted 2011 OCU recruiting class for men's baseball.  This talented crop of newcomers will be joining an already successful program that finished 4th nationally at the 2011 NCCAA World Series.
