Blazers Dominate Welch College 86-53 in Music City
NASHVILLE, TN - OCU proved to be too much for host Welch College on Friday night as the visiting Trailblazers dominated the Flames 86-53.
Welch stayed close in the early moments behind the strong shooting of Jake Manning and Kendrid Sides. The OCU defense then tightened up and jumped out to a ten point halftime lead with the score 34-24 in favor of Ohio Christian.
The second half was dominated in every aspect by Ohio Christian. The Blazer defense went on to force 20 Welch College turnovers and converted those opportunities on offense through a strong transition game. OCU outscored the host Flames 52-29 in the second half to cruise to victory.
Ohio Christian was led by Wesley Russell who scored a team high 15 points while swiping a game high 5 steals. Jimmy Horton provided a big boost with 14 points on 5 of 6 shooting. Milen Kostov and Treyvon Crater each tallied 11 points in the win. Joe Collier came off the bench to score 8 points for the Blazers.
Top ranked OCU is now 16-8 on the season and 5-0 in Mid-East Region play. The Blazers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Boyce College in Louisville, Kentucky for a 2:00 PM contest.
