Blazers Open Mid-East Region with Win
The Ohio University Trailblazers opened the mid east regional league play tonight with a win against Boyce College 114 to 45. The Trailblazers now 8 and 2 started strong tonight and ended strong. They shot 25 for 38 from the three point line at 62 percent. They had a season record 25 steals on the night and 8 blocked shots. Stefan Vasiloff shot 8 for 12 from the floor for 17 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. Point guard Rickshontae Spell shot 6 for 9 from the floor for 14 points , 5 assists and 6 steals. Junior Guard Tim Baker had 13 points and 5 steals on the night and joined an elite club of Trailblazers when he reached his 1000th point tonight. "Tim's entire family was at the game tonight to celebrate this special occasion with us," said Coach Christopher. "I am very proud of Tim and know that he will accomplish great things as a Trailblazer basketball player." Other players that contributed tonight for the blazers where freshman guard Josh Delph with 11 points, freshman guard Anthony McDaniel with 9 points and Freshman Center James Nelson who scored 8 points and 4 blocked shots. Boyce's freshman guard Jordan Doegenes shot 3 for 5 from three point land and ended the game with 16 points. The Trailblazers are back home on Saturday in league play against Freewill Baptist College at 2 pm.
