Blazers Win 2 In Regional Play
The team was back into regional play on Friday night against Crown College of Knoxville, TN. Crown started big and physical in the first few minutes of the game but their inexperience began to show as OCU pressured the ball at every position. The Trailblazer caused Crown to turn the ball over 38 times, a season record, which led the team to an 86 to 42 win. Senior point guard, Rickshontae Spell, led a very consistent attack with 9 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals. Senior Stefan Vasiloff shot 8 for 11 from the field, and 3 for 5 from the three point line, finishing with 19 points and 4 rebounds.
On Saturday the team started right where they left off against Johnson Bible College. The Trailblazers guarded the ball full court and played good help side defense causing 28 turnovers and finishing the game with a score of 123 to 71. Johnson guards Nick Viers and Chase Snyder played well but did not have much help once the ball left their hands. The two guards combined for 28 points and only 1 assist. The Trailblazers starters packed it in shortly after half time leading 74 to 31. "The bench played well but still need to work on their defense. They can score plenty but still gave up 40 points in the second half," said Coach Christopher. Point guard Rickshontae Spell led another consistent game with 9 points and 9 assists. Backup point guard Bryan Keaton came off the bench and scored 16 points, had 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
