Blazers Win Final Season Home Game
It was the last home game of the year. It was senior night. There was a ten home game winning streak on the line. The two teams were playing for first place in the league. Where was this game being played? The Leadership Center of Ohio Christian University. The Trailblazers were taking on their league rivals Kentucky Christian University. There was a lot on the line.
The game was exactly what one would expect. There were 10 ties and 13 lead changes as the Trailblazers won on a three point shot 87 to 86 in the last few seconds of the game. "With this many lead changes the last good shot was going to win tonight," said Coach Christopher.
Freshman forward, Jeremy Hays and Junior center, Michael Baker had their best defensive game tonight as they battled all night against Sophomore centers, twins Cedomir and Svetomir Illic. "Our bigs won the battle of the boards by 10 tonight."
The story of the night was the two senior guards of OCU. On senior night, Rickshontae Spell had 20 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Stefan Vasiloff had 21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. The best play of the game was the hard drive by Spell with 8 seconds on the clock and the assist to Vasiloff to hit the game winning three pointer. "I am so proud of the way my seniors played tonight. They never stopped playing hard and played together to find a way to win. You can't ask for more."
Rickshontae Spell will finish his career this year as the best point guard in OCU history. Some of his honors are: First team All Region, All Regional Tournament Team, Second Team All American, All National Tournament Team, member of the 1000 point club, member of the 250 steal club, all time assist leader, all time steal leader.
Stefan Vasiloff will finish his career as one of the best guards to wear a Trailblazer uniform. Awards: First Team All Region, First Team All American, Academic All American, member of the 1000 point club, member or the 700 rebound club, Best three point shooting percentage of all time, 47% career.
The Trailblazers are now 21 and 5 on the season as they will finish out the regular this weekend in Knoxville, TN against Crown College and Johnson Bible College.
